On the 20th of July, the 2019 Kathmandu KORA cycling challenge was held. With around 3000 participants, the event was the largest cycling challenge in Nepal and was a massive success.
Survivors Nepal had a team of over 40 riders, all of whom wore the jersey which had the Survivors logo on front, for participating through Survivors Nepal. Through donations collected from the riders, Survivors was able to raise more than one lakh seventeen thousand rupees for the cause that KORA 2019 was supporting; Ride against cancer.
All the proceeds will go to Richa Bajimaya Memorial Foundation, which is a non-profit organization that engages itself in cancer prevention, screening and awareness, school health, cancer advocacy/training and also engages in cancer support groups. The funds collected this year will go to10 screening camps over the period of one year, with each camp being able to screen at least 100 participants per year. The camps aim at sensitizing the public to the issues of breast and cervical cancer while also empowering women to look after their own health.
